We think of a great leader as the unwavering captain who guides us forward through challenging complexity复杂, confident, unwavering leaders, armed with data and past experience经验, have long been celebrated in business and politics alike类似于. But sometimes, and certainly now, a crisis危机 comes along that is so new and so urgent紧急的 that it upends everything we thought we knew. One thing we know for sure is that more upheavals剧变 are coming. In a completely十分 interconnected world, a single political uprising起义, a viral病毒性的 video, a distant在远处的 tsunami海啸, or a tiny virus[微]病毒 can send shockwaves around the world.
Upheaval creates fear, and in the midst中部 of it, people crave恳求 security安全, which can incline使倾斜 leaders toward the usual tropes of strength, confidence信心, constancy. But it won't work. We have to flip掷 the leadership领导 playbook. First, this type of leadership领导 requires communicating with transparency透明, communicating often. So how can leaders lead when there is so little certainty必然, so little clarity清楚?
