Waves are the children of the struggle( 努力) between ocean and atmosphere, the ongoing(不间断的) signatures(署名) of infinity(无限). Rays(射线) from the sun excite and energize(激励) the atmosphere of the earth, awakening(唤醒) it to flow, to movement, to rhythm(韵律), to life. The wind then speaks the message of the sun to the sea, and the sea transmits(传输) it on through waves, an ancient, exquisite(优美的), powerful message. These ocean waves are among the earth's most complicated(复杂的) natural phenomenon(现象). The basic features include a crest([物] 波峰), the highest point of the wave, a trough, the lowest point, a height, the vertical(垂直的) distance from the trough to the crest([物] 波峰), a wavelength([物] 波长), the horizontal(地平的) distance between two wave crests([物] 波峰), and a period which is the time it takes a wave crest to travel one wavelength.
