That sounds reasonable(合理的), Olivia. But what exactly is a balanced diet and why is it important? A balanced diet means eating a variety of foods from different food groups to get all the nutrients(营养物) our bodies need.
It's important because it helps us stay energized, maintain(维持) a healthy weight, and reduce the risk(风险) of chronic( 慢性的) diseases like heart disease and diabetes. I see. So, what are some examples of balanced meals? Well, Emma, a balanced meal typically includes a source of protein(蛋白质) such as lean( 瘦的) meat, fish, tofu, or beans, along with a serving of carbohydrates([有化] 碳水化合物) like rice, pasta, or potatoes, and plenty of colorful vegetables. You can also add a small amount of healthy fats, like olive(橄榄) oil or avocado, for flavor(口味) and satiety. That sounds simple enough, Olivia.
