Hello, Catherine here from BBC Learning(学习) English. Just so you know, this programme is from the BBC Learning English Archive(档案馆). It was originally( 最初) broadcast(广播) in May 2006 on our website. Enjoy! Hi, I'm Callum Robertson and this is Entertainment(娱乐). In the programme today, I'm going to be looking at sounds and talking about sounds we like.
Sounds and noises(喧闹声) are all around us from the sounds of nature(大自然), such as the wind(风) in the trees to man-made sounds like traffic. Often we don't even notice(注意) sounds, they're just 'there'. But we all have sounds we love to hear. Like Carrie. What sound does she like? My really, really favourite sound is the sound of waves(波动).
I just love the sound of waves crashing(碰撞) on the beach because it just reminds(提醒) me of being on holiday, being at the seaside(海滨), relaxing. I just find waves really, really relaxing and the sound of crashing waves is just really soothing(安慰). Carrie likes the sound of waves. She loves the sound of waves crashing on the beach. Describing sounds like this is very easy. You can say the phrase 'the sound of' followed by a noun(名词) or instead(代替) of using a single( 单一的) noun(名词) like the word 'waves(波动)', you can also use a group of words together which make what we call a noun phrase.
