Thank you. Thank you. As you can probably tell, I'm an astronaut. Now, I'm a DJ(电台流行音乐主持人) producer(制作人), as it says on the screen. I'm also a high school student, just like many of you guys. How many high school students do you have out here?
Oh, okay(好). Good amount. I'm a proud(骄傲的) member of my school's marching band, and I run track as well, so if any of you guys are into that, it's one of my other passions(激情). I've been DJing and producing for a little over three years now, and I've worked with artists that you may know, like Avicii, Skrillex, Major Lazer, Corella, Porter Robinson, Cornage, and many others. How many of you guys like dance music? Show of hands.
Oh, dance music? Okay. How many of you guys like rap or trap(陷阱), hip(臀部)-hop(蹦跳)? Okay. Good amount. Jazz, classical.
That's good. You guys have smart(聪明的) minds. That's good. What's great about DJing is that you can combine(使结合) all these genres(类型) into one idea, and what I like to do is combine dance, hip-hop, trap, dubstep, even movie samples(样品), and kind(种类) of combine(使结合) them into one set([数] 集合). DJing creates this sort of combined culture that really unites(联合) many fans. A good example of this is Skrillex and A$AP Rocky( 多岩石的)'s collaboration(合作), Wild for the Night, or most recently, Avicii and Ella Black's Wake Me Up.
How many of you guys know that song? It's a great track. Now, what exactly does a DJ do? Well, as you just saw earlier, they mix(使混合) tracks. What I just did was mix a Kanye West intro from Black Skinheads with a track called Elrad. One of the main goals is to really trigger(引发) samples(样品), tracks, or clips((塑料或金属的)夹子), and kind(种类) of create this long journey.
I'm going to do another little example for you guys right now of what DJs call a mash(捣碎)-up, which is taking two or more tracks and combining them into one. This mash-up was made famous by a Hungarian duo(二重奏), Mine and Shane54, and it takes the vocals(声乐节目) from Krilla's Alive. How many of you guys know that song? Alive? Okay, I'll take the vocals from that track and the song Language by Porter Robinson. Let me just play you the vocals first.
So that's the vocals, and here is the actual(实际的) track.
