Hey, smart people, Joe here. What weighs more? A pound of feathers or a pound of steel? Sorry, I forgot to switch转换 the video into metric度量标准. Much better. So, what weighs more? A kilogram of feathers or a kilogram of steel? You're too smart, you're right, that's a trick question. It all depends on where on earth you weigh them. Something's mass块. A kilogram of feathers, a kilogram of steel, where you and me is constant不变的 everywhere in the universe宇宙.
Because mass块 is a measure分量 of how much stuff there is. All your atoms added together. But weight isn't a constant[数] 常数. It's the force gravity地心引力 applies to all that stuff at one specific特殊的 spot. So depending on the gravity地心引力 where you are, your weight will be different. This makes sense if we think about being, say, on the moon, where your moon weight is about 16.5% your earth weight.
